I wanted to book a mid size SUV to travel between France, Switzerland and Italy for just over a week. I tried going direct through the bigname rental companies and also expedia, booking.com etc etc but couldn’t get a reasonable price.
Scouring various forums and hotukdeals etc I saw a vast majority of users recommend autoeurope. After getting loads of quotes from other competitors and a week comparing quotes and phone calls to various car rental companies I found a decent enough quote through Autoeurope which was actually cheaper than the actual rental company themselves. Plus Autoeurope included insurance for reminbursing any claims that may be made, again that was cheaper than what the rental companies were offering.
Great customer service, knowledgeable staff as I had several questions about local regulations for France(CritAir) & Tolls, Switzerland(Vignette) and Italy, along with child car seat regulations.
The only thing to be weary of is the luggae size indicators. That is an industry wide issue. With a midsize SUV (MG HS SUV), I could fit one large suitcase, one carryone and one backpack.
Make sure you do watch Youtube reviews for the vehicle class you book. Other than that it was as simple as paying for the voucher.
