Worst experience ever at Tring!
I visited Champneys in Tring earlier this week. No welcome pack or daily itinerary. I had to ask for a printed activity sheet.
No one answers the phone in reception. I rang 3 times after being told at reception some one would come up and fix my safe. Slippery floor by swimming pool, someone slipped and landed on my foot. Despite being told by their General Manager last year they would try and resurface the floor, nothing was done. The aqua arobics teacher had slipped several times and now has to use a mat. The bath has a mat but can still be slippery – no bath rail.
At the dining table, walls are filthy, I had to ask the Manager if this could be cleaned. Although I noticed the next day it was cleaned, the front dining area near the enterance on the left, had tables by a wall on the right which was also dirty.
The floor along the corridors on the new wing of the first floor, was covered by insects. With daddy long legs and flies on the walls.
I asked for delayed check out, but was told I had to ask after 10 am on the day of departure. Only to be told it was not possible.
All fitness classes are chargeable, which were previously included in the stay. No availability on the day for class bookings, which were booked by club members via an app.
Having expressed my concerns to their General Manager, he told their receptionist that I could not buy their discount voucher due to my complaints. This can only be purchased at reception on departure.
I was told to email their Customer Relations Manager. To date no reply.
Having visited Champneys for many years and visiting all their main resorts, this was my worst experience at the resort. Is this the way to treat long standing guests?
