I paid for a hire car on a car hire web site rentalcars.com London GB. The holding fee, paid in advance, was 2,955.13 GBR. I paid this on my credit card. The total final invoice for the whole rental period was 1,740.80 GBR. I was charged twice. Europcar deny having any record of any holding fee paid in advance and told me I should refer the matter to rentalcars.com. They said they have no record of the transaction and refused to refund the holding fee.
This is a scam. DO NOT USE RENTALCARS.COM under any circumstance they are a bogus company 6 Goods Yard Street, Manchester, M3 3BG, United Kingdom. DO NOT USE EUROPECAR at Manchester airport.

Manipulative cheats.
They asked if we would like the extra “top of the range” car insurance above and beyond their standard cover. We replied no thank you. They then said sign here and sign her as well. Then “hey presto we had the extra “top of the range” car insurance we never asked for. Admittedly we should have checked the fine print. Manipulative cheats, they knew what they were doing, but we should have checked as well.
